Like it... and the fact that they’re doing it for charity. Have already played a track and talked about the band on my show - shall play more in future shows.

Hi Guys.
Thought there were some interesting ideas, will give it another listen over the weekend. Regards,

Shadow Play

And if any band were to end the turgid run of releases this month then the unimaginatively titled Rain (nope, not the early Oasis incarnation) are not the band to do it. Self professed Dad rock, that’s exactly what they are. And bad-dad at that, horrible 80’s style vocals. they sound like they’re taking the piss even when they’re describing taking smack.

Rain CD

Their press pack clearly states, ‘Rain - Dadrock codgers for the iPod Generation!!! What it doesn’t state is just what a great little outfit Rain are!!

This well-seasoned trio could give any band a blood good run for their money - Rain may be elder statesmen of soft-rock but these guys certainly use their experience well - ‘267D Cranmore Boulevard’ is an excellent example of well crafted professionalism and superbly executed music for any age!

The older readers may remember a band of session musicians that went under the name of Toto - well, think Toto, think Rain - Rain write and play with subline confidence and rarely observed modesty - Rain make it all sound so bloody easy as they cruise their way through this superb set of twelve stunningly performed songs with a certain beautifully proportioned ‘timelessness’.

Cont...

Rain do music for posterity - feeling ageless, maturely crafted, a sort of intelli-rock or grown-up rock.

Rain may play down their ‘night jobs’ but these guys stand here to be counted and there’re loads of outfits out there that could learn a great deal from this threesome - Rain play ‘proper’ light rock and ok, that may not be to everybody’s taste but it’s how Rain go about their musical craft that should be noted; Rain don’t go ‘large’, they keep it all very real and very much under control and that ability to play within themselves gives them an edge that’s just so slick and polished that it sets new standards that others should try to match. The whole Rain ethos seems to be about well honed, sensitively proportioned pop-rock for the more discerning ‘ears’ but, turn up the volume and just listen to how these guys really rock! Rain play deceptively laid back rock that’s maybe a bit too tidy and polite to be massively commercially successful at the moment - but, there’s still a massive market out there for this kind of ‘adult pop’ and with decent promotion Rain could surprise themselves with their ‘Dadrock’ brand of electric music for the mind and body.

‘267D Cranmore Boulevard’ by Rain is as good as anything out there - an impressive collection of ‘classic’ sounding rockin’ chunes for the musically educated rock purocrates out there - classy, timeless and just bloody good entertainment!!

RAIN
‘267D Cranmore Boulevard’ Album

Being a full-on Instrumental almost ‘Live’ set, these tracks take a fair bit of getting used to. They have plenty of skills on show though. With a style akin to ‘Eagles’ or ‘Doobie Brothers’, they shine with tracks like ‘Kicking Off Your Shoes’ and ‘Pretty As A Picture’. The vocalist has a voice that could stand-in for George Michael, and if he doesn’t have the ‘Big-I-Am’ about him, he may well have an even bigger career.
